Picture this: a bright orange truck pulls up, the windows swing open, and a brick oven is already roaring with real wood fire. A few minutes later, a blistered, bubbling pizza slides out right in front of your guests. That's not delivery. That's Fresh Pizza on Wheels, and it's one of the most fun ways we've seen to feed a crowd in Los Angeles.
At Street Smart, we love shining a light on local, hard-working businesses, and this crew is a great example.
Who they are
Fresh Pizza on Wheels is a Los Angeles-based mobile pizza catering company. They describe their pizzas as authentic Neapolitan-style, made fresh on-site and cooked in a wood-fired brick oven built right into the truck. Their own tagline sums it up: "Not just a pizza food truck, but a pizza experience."
Their website says they serve all of Southern California, including Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange and San Bernardino counties. You'll also find the truck at public stops around the San Fernando Valley and greater LA. Their weekly schedule is posted on their location page.
What makes it different: you watch it happen
The best part is the show. The dough is stretched, topped and fired while your guests watch, so the pizza comes out of the oven hot and goes straight to the plate. Their menu runs from a classic Margherita (fresh tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil) to the chef's-favorite Spicy Prosciutto with jalapeños. There's also a build-your-own option with gourmet toppings like white truffle sauce, ricotta and a hot honey finish.
Built for every kind of event
Fresh Pizza on Wheels brings their oven to:
- Corporate events, from team lunches to company celebrations
- Private celebrations like birthdays, weddings and backyard parties
- Film and TV productions, feeding cast and crew on set
- Festivals and community events
- School events, fundraisers and holiday parties
They've worked with companies and organizations such as Google, Riot Games, Amazon Studios, FIFA, the LA Clippers, LACMA and BETX, according to Fresh Pizza on Wheels. One public Google review on their site even mentions finding the truck at LACMA's jazz nights, serving "thousands of people."
More than pizza
Pizza is the star, but the menu goes further. They also make Italian sandwiches (think an Italian sub with mortadella and salami, a Caprese, and "The Godfather" with prosciutto), salads, calzones and a crowd favorite to finish: cannoli.
Want to get your hands floury? Fresh Pizza on Wheels also offers interactive pizza-making classes and experiences. It's a great idea for team building, kids' parties or a family afternoon.
A seat at the table for everyone
Fresh Pizza on Wheels says the power of pizza is bringing people together, and they want every guest to feel included. That's why they offer gluten-free, vegan and halal options for different dietary needs. If you're planning an event with a mixed crowd, that's a big deal.

The Street Smart angle: a kitchen on wheels needs the right coverage

We'll put on our insurance hats for a minute. A business like this is a restaurant, a vehicle and an event vendor all rolled into one. If you run a food truck or catering business in California, here are the coverages worth talking through:
- Commercial auto. The truck is a work vehicle hauling heavy equipment to job sites, and a personal auto policy generally isn't built for business use. Read commercial auto vs. personal auto for business or see our commercial auto insurance page.
- General liability. Events and venues usually ask about it first. It can help if a guest is hurt or someone's property is damaged. Get a general liability quote.
- Equipment and business property. Ovens, refrigeration, generators and supplies add up fast. A business owner's policy (BOP) bundles general liability and property coverage, and limits have gone up. Read California BOP: higher limits and the top 20 business classes.
- Certificates of insurance. Festivals, studios, venues and corporate campuses often want a COI, sometimes naming them as additional insured, before you roll in. Here's how COIs work for food trucks.
- Workers' compensation. If you have employees on the truck, California generally requires it. See workers' comp for California businesses.
- Higher limits. Some big events and corporate clients ask for more than a basic policy carries. Commercial excess insurance can help fill that gap.
Every business is different, and coverage, limits and pricing depend on underwriting by the carrier partners we work with. That's why we always recommend comparing more than one quote. Learn more on our food truck insurance page.
